History
The town of Londonderry dates back to 1718 when a group of Irish Immigrants visited the area and named it Nutfield.  They decided it would be a good site for a community.  Four years later, in June 1722, the Nutfield area was incorporated as a township and renamed Londonderry after athe city in Ireland from which most of the settlers had come.  The original Londonderry township was later divided into the communities of Derry, Londonderry, Windham, Salem, Hudson, and parts of Manchester.

The Apple Way Scenic Highway

The state of NH had designated the roads connecting Londonderry's five orchards as a scenic highway, called The Apple Way.

Londonderry´s five orchards Woodmont, Sunnycrest, Elwood, Moose Hill, and Merrill´s in North Londonderry  are a vital part of what makes Londonderry so special. Londonderry´s apple growers not only contribute to the local economy, but also provide valuable open spaces. Londonderry´s Apple Way, a designated New Hampshire Scenic and Cultural Byway, winds past orchards, old farmhouses and local landmarks, reminding residents and visitors alike of our heritage. Come discover our past on the Apple Way.  A brochure and map of the Apple Way can be obtained from the Londonderry Town Hall.
